The World Endeavors Study Abroad in South Africa program takes place in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Stellenbosch University is one of the most advanced institutions of higher education in the country, consistently producing world-class research since its founding in the late 1800s. Stellenbosch University offers programs in a wide range of fields and attracts students from over 100 countries.

About Stellenbosch

This university town in South Africa’s Western Cape province is surrounded by the mountains of Jonkershoek and Simonsberg, and the vineyards of the Cape Winelands. Founded in 1679, it is the oldest town in the country after Cape Town. Walk along its oak-shaded streets and take in the distinctive Cape Dutch architecture of the cafes, boutiques and art galleries or discover the latest live music at popular student hang-outs.

Semester Study in South Africa (Stellenbosch University) | $16,000

Eligibility

World Endeavors study abroad participants should be 18 years or older (in most cases).
Have a passport valid for at least 6 months from the start of their program.
Keep in mind that all countries have different visa restrictions for varying types of passports.
Must have completed high school (or equivalent)
While some programs have minimum GPA requirements and require that applicants be currently enrolled in a college or university, others are open to all participants regardless of age or student status.

Housing

Depending on the specific study abroad program you choose, you will live in fully furnished accommodation on or near campus, or with host families. Accommodation is usually shared with other international and local students, with shared bathrooms and communal living areas.

South Africa (SA) has a weak currency in relation to Europe, the UK and the US. If you travel to South Africa with a strong currency, like US dollars, then life in this country is very affordable.

Is South Africa safe?

As in many other countries, there are areas in SA that are safer than others. Remember not to flash cash or expensive cameras and phones, stick to the safer areas and be aware of your surroundings. Safety is our top priority for all of our programs, and we take several measures to ensure your experience abroad is as safe as possible.
