Overview of Study Abroad Programs in New Zealand

An island country in the southwestern Pacific Ocean east of Australia, New Zealand consists of two landmasses: the North Island and the South Island, as well as hundreds of smaller islands. Choosing to study abroad in this large developed country will give you access to a thriving economy and a world class education, with all of New Zealand’s universities ranking in the QS world ranking system. It is a country that values practical learning as well as knowledge-based learning, so you are assured of real-world experience during your studies.

With New Zealand being the first country to introduce a minimum wage and to give women the right to vote, you will be studying in a forward-thinking and progressive environment. And when you need a break, you will have breathtaking scenery and an array of outdoor activities to soak up.

Studying abroad in New Zealand offers you the chance to experience a new country and an unfamiliar way of life, while still being in an English-speaking environment. The locals, known as kiwis, are also very friendly and helpful and will soon make you feel comfortable.

In between classes, you can immerse yourself in the breathtaking playground that New Zealand offers, with spectacular mountain scenery, rugged coastline and tranquil lakes. You can hike through the national parks to see huge glaciers, fiords and even a submarine volcano or camp out in the wild and witness the superb night skies. Exploring the wild beauty that New Zealand offers is the perfect way to assimilate the learning you will be doing during your studies.

Here are just a few of the best things about studying in New Zealand:

  • With few language barriers in place, you can easily assimilate into the friendly kiwi culture and make lifelong connections
  • Experience the richness of the indigenous culture by staying in a marae in Rotorua (the cultural capital of New Zealand), and learning the haka (a Maori war dance)
  • Immerse yourself in the many ecotourism options on offer and experience the country guiltfree

AliciaStudy in Thailand

I have to say that what I remember, as much as the delicious colors and flavors of Thailand, are the people I crossed paths with – the other students who became such good friends, and the local Thais who showed me such kindness. And of course the food. I still dream of the food.”

It was amazing to be able to say I traveled to six countries in one semester.

However, you are required to obtain an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) before traveling.
