ABOUT CULINARY ARTS INTERNSHIPS ABROAD
Nothing is more central to a culture than food, and there is no better way to learn about food than by traveling. World Endeavors Culinary Arts internships offer the chance to learn about the cuisine of a particular country from the heart of a professional kitchen. Most interns work side-by-side with local professionals in the kitchens of fine restaurants where they assist in food preparation. Interns chop vegetables, measure ingredients, prepare salads and appetizers, and stir or strain soups, stews, and sauces. Interns also gain insight into how professional kitchens are managed in other countries.
IN THE SPOTLIGHT: CULINARY ARTS ABROAD
International Culinary Arts interns immerse themselves in their host country’s culture and cuisine. For aspiring cooks and restaurateurs, there’s no better way to gain firsthand experience with international styles of cooking. An internship will demonstrate to future employers a commitment to working with cuisine, adaptability to different situations, and a readiness for the demands of working in a professional kitchen.
OTHER CONSIDERATIONS
It is important for interns in the Culinary Arts to be prepared to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Good communication skills are important as is the willingness to work when needed. Interns should be prepared to learn about and immerse themselves in a new food culture. Prior academic coursework or professional experience in the culinary arts is not required, but these experiences may help in some internship placements.
