PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

At the University of Limerick, students have the opportunity to take summer courses while experiencing the Irish culture. Studying at the University is a great choice for students who want a new perspective on their studies, and Ireland is an excellent starting point for exploring the rest of the British Isles and Europe.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Approval received from the home university.
  • Current official undergraduate degree transcript.
  • Copy of your passport (photo page).

Location

Limerick is a true gem of the Emerald Isle where Ireland’s heritage and future meet. The twelfth-century St. Mary’s Cathedral and King John’s Castle can be found here, attesting to Limerick’s rich medieval history. Meanwhile, art museums, galleries, and theaters celebrate Irish art of the more recent past and the present. It’s easy to find a pub where students and local residents gather to watch football matches, while trendy restaurants serve Irish and international cuisine. The University is an important part of local life, and students and professors from around the world ensure Limerick is connected and always interesting.

Housing

Participants stay in on-campus housing at the University of Limerick. Each student has a single bedroom in a shared student apartment. Apartments include a shared living area, kitchen, and lounge with a television. Three meals per day are also provided with the program.

Life in Limerick

Studying abroad in Limerick, Ireland, provides students with exposure to a thriving economy, especially in sectors like technology, pharmaceuticals, and financial services, creating potential internship and job opportunities. The city’s history and culture come to life through visits to landmarks like St. Mary’s Cathedral and the Hunt Museum, as well as participation in traditional Irish music sessions and festivals. Limerick’s close-knit community welcomes international students, fostering friendships and cultural exchange.

Transportation within the city is made convenient by a reliable bus network, while the city’s strategic location enables easy exploration of other Irish cities like Dublin, Galway, and Cork. This well-rounded experience allows students to not only excel academically but also embrace Irish heritage and enjoy the charm of the Emerald Isle.
