Students take classes with faculty at the cutting-edge Universidad Pablo de Olavide while staying with Spanish host families. It’s the perfect way for students to use their summer vacation to improve their Spanish or further their cultural studies, all while living in one of Spain’s most beautiful and historic cities.

The World Endeavors summer study programs at Universidad Pablo de Olavide are a great fit for beginner to advanced Spanish students who want to improve their language skills and have an immersive experience in Spanish culture. By staying with local families, students get the chance to use Spanish in their daily lives while being part of a diverse, international student community. This program will be particularly appealing for students who want to explore, live, and study in the Andalusia region.

  • A good command of written and spoken Spanish and English.
  • Currently enrolled at a reputable university.
  • Strong academic standing.
  • Passport and visa are correct and up to date.

Seville is the capital of Andalusia, the southernmost region of Spain and the home of flamenco dancing, bullfighting, and some of Europe’s most vivacious and colorful festivals. Morocco is just across the strait of Gibraltar, and Andalusia is a crossroads of European and African culture with a flair entirely its own. The region’s culture is exemplified in Seville, where a history of cross-cultural sharing can be seen in a dazzling array of North African, European, and Middle Eastern architecture. Today’s Seville is a graceful and vibrant city where it’s easy to spend an afternoon following cobbled alleyways or relaxing in a palm-lined courtyard or to spend a night with friends sharing a plate of tapas and dancing the night away.

Participants in this program stay with local Spanish host families. Staying with families is a valuable part of becoming immersed in the local culture, and it’s one of the best ways for students to practice their Spanish outside the classroom. Host families are very welcoming and enjoy having foreign students stay with them. All host family accommodation includes three meals every day plus laundry facilities.

Or you can take an effective public speaking course taught in English. Students will also have the opportunity to participate in cultural activities that may include a trip to the beach, a guided tour of the city center and Barrio Santa Cruz, a visit to a museum, or a flamenco show.

Applicants to study abroad with World Endeavors must have completed high school (or equivalent), and, in most cases, must be at least 18 years of age. While some programs have minimum GPA requirements and require that applicants be currently enrolled in a college or university, others are open to all participants regardless of age or student status.
