Program Overview

As Korean culture and business soars into global recognition, more students and travelers are taking flight to experience this beautiful country. Busan is one of those cities that adds to Korea’s lore of incredible vistas and a vibrant city life. Seaside and typically warmer than Seoul, Busan is the top tourist destination within Korea. The World Endeavors study abroad program in Busan, South Korea is held at Dong-A University, which has been listed in the top 1000 universities in the world. With multiple campuses across Busan and a healthy mix of national and international students, you’ll be set up for easy exploration and the opportunity to make lifelong global friends.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Current official undergraduate degree transcript. Must be enrolled in a higher education institute (a reputable, accredited college or university) and must have completed at least 1 academic semester.
  • Valid passport until at least 12 months after your program start date. Copy of your passport (photo page).
  • A free form personal statement and a study plan limited to one A4 page in English (What do you want to achieve through this student exchange program?)
  • Dong-A University application form
  • All international students residing outside Korea will need to apply for a student visa at the embassy or consulate of the Republic of Korea in their home country. The application process can be extensive but World Endeavors staff will walk you through it!
  • You will also apply for an Alien Residence Card once in Korea. The card works as an identification card and enables you to make trips abroad during your semester in Korea. The host university will help you get the Card after you’ve arrived.
  • You will have to leave Korea within 1 week of the semester’s ending date, otherwise you’ll be heavily fined by the Korean Immigration.

Location

Busan is a trendy, relaxed city that’s perfect for anyone seeking a unique study abroad experience. Combining majestic mountains, glittering beaches, rich seafood markets and bustling nightlife, Busan will capture your heart as you study abroad at Dong-A University. The main campus is located at the base of Seunghaksan Mountain and overlooks the rainbow buildings of Gamcheon Cultural Village, all within walking distance of the ocean.

Life in Busan

Life in Busan is a delightful mix of modern cityscapes and natural beauty, surrounded by mountains and picturesque coastal areas. It’s easily the biggest, most diverse, and explorable city in South Korea.

Busan being a major city with a focus on tourism, there’s a good chance you’ll find a balance between English and Korean communication. Navigating Busan should be relatively straightforward, as signs and announcements are often available in both Korean and English. However, having some basic Korean phrases or a translation app on hand can be helpful, especially when taking taxis or interacting with locals in restaurants.

Academic

Dong-A University, situated in the bustling coastal city of Busan, South Korea, is a prominent South Korean institution committed to academic excellence while fostering a vibrant cultural fluency. Dating back to the early 1940s, the university has grown into a dynamic hub of learning, research, and innovation. Dong-A University (DAU) offers courses and programs leading to bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees in several areas of study.

Academic credit and transcripts are issued by Dong-A University after the successful completion of the program. Dong-A University is a fully-accredited, state-recognized Moroccan institution of higher learning.

The World Endeavors process is designed to take the guesswork out of academic credit and credit transfers. Our experienced advisors work with each student and his or her academic advisor before the program begins to ensure students earn the credit expected for courses taken abroad.

Eligibility

Applicants who wish to study abroad with World Endeavors in Busan, South Korea must have completed high school (or equivalent), must be at least 18 years of age, be currently enrolled in an accredited, reputable college or university, and must have completed at least 1 academic semester. Additionally, some programs may have minimum GPA requirements. Please contact a World Endeavors advisor for more detailed eligibility criteria.

The National Assembly represents the legislative arm, while the Constitutional Court stands at the pinnacle of the judicial system. The President cannot be re-elected for a consecutive term.
