Program Overview

The University of Cagliari, set on the island of Sardinia, is dedicated to ongoing research and development, and prides itself on its renowned teaching faculty and ongoing collaboration with other universities. The University of Cagliari has six faculties with over 24000 students enrolled.

It values inclusion highly, and you will be made to feel welcome with well-organized reception services and an orientation tutor. There is a wide range of sports available, from fencing to tennis, as well as cultural activities and associations. The university also has its own UniCA radio station, which invites Communication students to get involved. REQUIREMENTS

  • Approval received from the home university.
  • Current official undergraduate degree transcript.
  • Valid passport until at least 6 months after your program end date. Copy of your passport (photo page).
  • Most students will be required to obtain a study visa. The application process can be extensive but World Endeavors staff will walk you through it!

Location

Cagliari is the capital of Sardinia and has been inhabited since prehistoric times, with many Roman and other archaeological ruins still visible today. This vibrant city offers sidewalk cafés, museums, historic buildings and a buzzing nightlife. Life in Cagliari

Perched above the waters of the Mediterranean, Cagliari is an ancient city with a long history of rule by several different civilisations. When you’re not in class, you can create your own unique itinerary in this fascinating city with its many archaeological sites and breathtaking vistas of beach and sea. One of the most affordable cities to live in in Europe, Cagliari also has an effective public transportation system, enabling you to explore and experience all that this city has to offer.

Support whilst in Italy

World Endeavors study abroad programs offer full support, starting with airport pickup and accommodation transfer upon arrival followed by an on-site orientation covering health, safety, and local tips. Emergency support from your in-country coordinator, 24/7 travel medical insurance, and continuous contact with your advisor for additional assistance throughout the program helps you feel secure and supported. Academic

Academic credit and transcripts are issued by the University of Cagliari after the successful completion of the program. The University of Cagliari is a fully-accredited, state-recognized institution of higher learning and will help you develop the skills you need to succeed, with a mix of lecture-style tuition and practical experience.

The World Endeavors process is designed to take the guesswork out of academic credit and credit transfers. Our experienced advisors work with each student and his or her academic advisor before the program begins to ensure students earn the credit expected for courses taken abroad.

Eligibility

Applicants to study abroad with World Endeavors must have completed high school (or equivalent), and, in most cases, must be at least 18 years of age. While some programs have minimum GPA requirements and require that applicants be currently enrolled in a college or university, others are open to all participants regardless of age or student status. Please contact a World Endeavors advisor for more detailed eligibility criteria.

Course Load

Courses at the University of Cagliari are lecture and seminar-based, with significant independent study expected. We recommend students take only four courses per semester. Students may take five courses per semester with approval from their Academic or Study Abroad Advisor first.

University of Cagliari offers a wide range of courses taught in English that span most major fields of discipline. Additionally they offer an Italian language course which focuses a semester solely on learning Italian. Spots are limited for this offering!

Italy Study Abroad FAQs

Are meals included in the program fee?

Meals are included in some of the programs. When staying with a family, 1-3 meals a day are included in the program fee. Other types of housing, such as shared apartments, may require you to pay for your own grocery and meal costs.

What if I get sick or hurt while I’m in Italy?

If you get sick while you are in Italy, our In-Country Coordinator will be there to provide support and assistance. They can assist you in case of emergency and also help if you need to see a doctor for an urgent health issue.

How much extra money will I need for my time in Italy?

The amount of money needed for your time in Italy will depend on the program type. A World Endeavors advisor can help you figure out these costs once you decide on a program.
