REQUIREMENTS

  • Approval received from the home university.
  • Current official undergraduate degree transcript.

Location

Bogota, the capital of Colombia, is one of the largest and highest-altitude cities in the world. Your transformative study abroad journey here will challenge you to reach your peak, while deepening your intercultural and linguistic skills.

When you’re not in class, take a walking tour through the historic La Candelaria neighborhood in the heart of Bogota, with its mix of pastel-painted houses, street art and cafe-lined plazas. Or hire a bicycle and take part in the city’s Sunday Ciclovia program, when motorized transport is banned from 7am to 2pm. Immerse yourself in Colombian culture by attending concerts, art exhibitions and some of the many festivals this city hosts.

Housing

The Universidad de la Sabana offers the Sabana Housing Program for students. This program gives students a choice of reliable and safe accommodation in Bogota and the surrounding areas of the University campus. Students can choose between campus residences, rented rooms in apartments or home-stay accommodation, which is recommended as a great way to immerse yourself in Colombian culture and to improve your grasp of Spanish.

Life in Chia

Chia, the student town where the main campus of the Universidad de la Sabana is located, is only a 45-minute drive from central Bogota, and is easily accessed with the bus and train transportation service offered by the university.

Chia is known for its gastronomy and is home to the famous Andres Carne de Res restaurant, a unique bar and restaurant serving typical Colombian food. You can walk off any excesses with a guided ecological walk in the nearby Parque la Montana del Oso, or simply wander the streets of this charming small town.

Support whilst in Colombia

World Endeavors study abroad programs offer full support, starting with airport pickup and accommodation transfer upon arrival followed by an on-site orientation covering health, safety, and local tips. Emergency support from your in-country coordinator, 24/7 travel medical insurance, and continuous contact with your advisor for additional assistance throughout the program helps you feel secure and supported. Whatever challenges life throws your way, we’ve got you covered!

Academic

Academic credit and transcripts are issued by the Universidad de la Sabana after the successful completion of the program. The Universidad de la Sabana is a fully-accredited, state-recognized institution of higher learning. Develop the skills you need to succeed, with a mix of lecture-style tuition and practical experience.

The World Endeavors process is designed to take the guesswork out of academic credit and credit transfers. Our experienced advisors work with each student and his or her academic advisor before the program begins to ensure students earn the credit expected for courses taken abroad.

Eligibility

Applicants to study abroad with World Endeavors must have completed high school (or equivalent), and, in most cases, must be at least 18 years of age. While some programs have minimum GPA requirements and require that applicants be currently enrolled in a college or university, others are open to all participants regardless of age or student status. Please contact a World Endeavors advisor for more detailed eligibility criteria.

Course Load

Courses at the Universidad de la Sabana are lecture- and seminar-based, with significant independent study expected. We recommend students take only four courses per semester. Students may take five courses per semester with approval from their Academic or Study Abroad Advisor first.
