World Endeavors students taking summer courses in Seville take courses in Hispanic Studies focusing on Spanish culture and language. Students take classes with faculty at the cutting-edge Universidad Pablo de Olavide while staying with Spanish host families. It’s the perfect way for students to use their summer vacation to improve their Spanish or further their cultural studies, all while living in one of Spain’s most beautiful and historic cities.
PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS
The World Endeavors program at Universidad Pablo de Olavide is a great fit for students at all levels of Spanish who want to improve their language skills and be immersed in Spanish culture. By staying with local families, students get the chance to use Spanish in their daily lives while being part of a diverse, international student community. Living and studying in Seville is particularly appealing for students who want to explore the Andalusia region.

Seville is the capital of Andalusia, the southernmost region of Spain and the home of flamenco dancing, bullfighting, and some of Europe’s most vivacious and colorful festivals. Morocco is just across the strait of Gibraltar, and Andalusia is a crossroads of European and African culture with a flair entirely its own. The region’s culture is exemplified in Seville, where a history of cross-cultural sharing can be seen in a dazzling array of North African, European, and Middle Eastern architecture. Today’s Seville is a graceful and vibrant city where it’s easy to spend an afternoon following cobbled alleyways or relaxing in a palm-lined courtyard or to spend a night with friends sharing a plate of tapas and dancing the night away.

Jennifer studied abroad with World Endeavors at the University of Valladolid in Spain. She is originally from Evansville, Indiana.
“Honestly it was the best semester I’ve ever had. I met so many people and learned so many things. I created a new interest in this culture that I knew nothing about. I found a new love for a different country.”
- Eden, Study in Spain

The World Endeavors process is designed to take the guesswork out of academic credit and credit transfers. Our experienced advisors work with each student and his or her academic advisor before the program begins to ensure students earn the credit expected for courses taken abroad.

Participants in this program stay with local Spanish host families. Staying with families is a valuable part of becoming immersed in the local culture, and it’s one of the best ways for students to practice their Spanish outside the classroom. Host families are very welcoming and enjoy having foreign students stay with them. All host family accommodation includes three meals every day plus laundry facilities.
