Location

Ifrane is a beautiful Moroccan town located in the Middle Atlas mountain range. As one of the world’s cleanest cities, its natural resources make it a popular destination for people who enjoy hiking, hunting, and fishing. Streets are lined with beautiful fir and maple trees that light up the cityscape with the warm, vibrant colors of autumn every year. In view of the Palais Royal sits the legendary Lion d’Ifrane, the centerpiece of the city, surrounded by chic cafes and restaurants. You won’t want to miss the rich, lively displays of the Marche Central, the central market of Ifrane. Locals and visitors alike flock to this charming local mecca to savor a baked treat or shop for impeccably woven rugs. West of the city lies Ifrane National Park, a breathtaking expanse of rolling hills dusted with magnificent Atlas cedars and home to one of the largest populations of Barbary macaques, an endangered species. Another popular spot for mellow hikes and macaque spotting is Parc Ras Elma, also a stone’s throw away from the city.

Housing

Students live in residence halls on campus split by gender with shared rooms, bathrooms, kitchens and lounge areas. All rooms are heated and furnished with a bed, mattress, desk, chair, closet and dresser. Rooms are typically shared by 2 to 3 people. Coin-operated laundry is available. Rooms are cleaned once per month. The residential complex provides easy access to university facilities including the restaurant, the health center, the gymnasium, the activities center, and the academic and administrative services departments. Accommodations are chosen to ensure students’ safety and convenience.

Life in Ifrane

Life in Ifrane is not the typical experience one would think of when considering Morocco. Due to Ifrane’s high altitude in the picturesque Atlas Mountains, Ifrane is actually a popular winter skiing destination. But with a warm summer climate it is the ultimate best of both worlds and an hour away from the major hub of Fes. This small college town is centered around the university surrounded by teahouses, gardens and delicious restaurants making it an ideal environment to study.
