Program Overview

The Study in Lithuania program takes place at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. Vilnius Tech consistently ranks among the top institutions in Lithuania and the university equips students with the skills they need to succeed in both their academic and personal lives. The institution offers a wide range of activities including sports teams, student clubs, performing arts, ratilio, and even a nightclub. The campus has a variety of fascinating facilities such as a botanical garden, museum, cultural center, athletic center with training, and much more.

Location

Known as the hidden gem of the Baltics, Vilnius is Lithuania’s capital and largest city. Here, old-world charm possesses the city with its cobblestone streets lined with charming townhouses and boutique cafes. Awe-inspiring monuments have stood the test of time, including the magnificent Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, watching over the city proud and tall since the 1600s. The Vilnius Historic Centre is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There, travelers would be remiss not to pay a visit to Cathedral Square, the beating heart of public life in the city presided over by the immaculate neo-Roman Vilnius Cathedral and its accompanying free-standing bell tower which towers over Vilnius at a staggering 187 feet.

Housing

Students live in a student dormitory with shared rooms and shared bathrooms located on the university campus. Blocks consist of two double rooms, a hall, bathroom, shower and a kitchen. Each room is fully furnished with two beds, desk, closet, a table and two chairs. There is a sink, refrigerator and electric cooker in the kitchen. Each student is provided with a blanket, pillow, pillowcase, sheets, and towels. Linens are changed for cleaning every 10 days, and rooms are cleaned twice per week. Accommodations are chosen to ensure students’ safety and convenience.

Vilnius is a city that honors its heritage through its famously gorgeous baroque style architecture but marches into the future as a hub of technological innovation. A city that acts as a hub to the Baltics, Poland and Scandinavia is just as easy to navigate due to its world class transportation network.

Support whilst in Lithuania

Academic

Academic credit and transcripts are issued by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University after the successful completion of the program. Vilnius Tech is a fully-accredited, state-recognized Lithuanian institution of higher learning.

The World Endeavors process is designed to take the guesswork out of academic credit and credit transfers. Our experienced advisors work with each student and his or her academic advisor before the program begins to ensure students earn the credit expected for courses taken abroad.

Eligibility

Applicants to study abroad with World Endeavors must have completed high school (or equivalent), and, in most cases, must be at least 18 years of age. While some programs have minimum GPA requirements and require that applicants be currently enrolled in a college or university, others are open to all participants regardless of age or student status. Please contact a World Endeavors advisor for more detailed eligibility criteria.

Each student in this program takes up to 4 courses for 3 or 4 credits each.
