A bit farther out of the way but well worth the trip is the pristine coast of Ecuador. Visit the tranquil village of Puerto Lopez and partake in a whale-watching tour, or head farther south to Montañita, Ecuador’s beach hub for international travelers and a great location if you’ve ever dreamt of learning to surf.
