9:00 a.m. — Walk along the La Promenade des Anglais
Start your day off right with a walk along the La Promenade des Anglais. Breathe in the fresh air coming from the Mediterranean Sea as you stroll along the road that stretches around the Bay of Angels. The several mile stretch of seaside will serve as a pleasant introduction to the city as it is lined with many beachside restaurants and cafes. Take some time to sunbathe, go for a light jog or simply relax and enjoy the sensory stimulation from the beautiful scenery and morning buzz of the city.
10:30 a.m. — Explore Le Musée Matisse
Explore Le Musée Matisse, a museum dedicated to the works of the famous artist, Henri Matisse, who lived nearby during the 1940’s. Home to a collection of oil paintings, sculptures, drawings, tapestries and Matisse’s famous paper cut-outs, the museum showcases the evolution of Matisse’s art. Matisse is now buried in the cemetery across the park next to the museum, which is filled with beautiful olive trees — it’s worth a stroll after the museum.
12:00 p.m. — Wander into Nice’s old town, Vieux Nice
Wander into Nice’s old town, Vieux Nice, to experience the city from the 1700’s. The old town hasn’t changed much in the last several hundred years. It is bustling with people and home to a variety of distinct shops. Meander through the various delis, bars, food shops and boutiques or stop by Cours Saleya, a market with vendors selling flowers, food, drinks and unique trinkets.
1:30 p.m. — Grab a lunch at the La Rossettisserie
After working up an appetite, grab a hearty lunch at the nearby La Rossettisserie in the old town. This roast house is characterized by its traditional home-style cooking and the freshness of its products: everything is bought and cooked on the same day it is eaten. They serve a wide variety of mouthwatering meats, such as beef, chicken, lamb, pork and veal. Each meal is paired with a delectable side of baked potato, mashed potatoes, or fresh vegetables ratatouille.
4:00 p.m. — Join Nice Cycle Tours
Join Nice Cycle Tours for an informative tour of the entire city from a unique perspective. The 3-hour tour is fully inclusive, providing you with a bike, helmet and chilled drinks, and maintains a very relaxed pace. See amazing panoramic views of the city as well as major landmarks and tourist sites, such as Place Massena, Hotel Negresco, The Colline and many others. 9:00 p.m. — End your night at the Wayne’s Pub
End your night in the heart of old town at one of the busiest bars in the town. Wayne’s Pub features homemade foods from gourmet burgers to sirloin steak to barbecue ribs. Inexpensive drinks and great food attract a crowd while a live band keeps everyone entertained. After midnight, the pub assumes a club-like vibe, with plenty of dancing and music. Make sure to check their website the next day because you might find some amusing pictures from the night before!
