Budget Travel Magazine, June 2008 issue
World Endeavors is excited to be featured in the June 2008 issue of Budget Travel magazine, which profiles India volunteer Kelly Abbott. Says Kelly, a math and science teacher, of her volunteer experience at a school in India, “Stories about my trip help my students back home appreciate what they have. Everyone wants the new PlayStation or cell phone—I get caught up in that, too—and the best way to get grounded again is by seeing how 75 percent of the world lives.”
Lonely Planet Code Green: Experiences of a Lifetime
World Endeavors’ orphanage assistance program in Thailand is featured in Lonely Planet’s Code Green: Experiences of a Lifetime. The guide contains profiles of 100 responsible travel experiences that are connected by three principles: treading lightly on the environment, immersing oneself in the culture, and having a positive economic impact on the local community.
National Geographic Adventure Magazine, June 2005 issue
Check out what National Geographic Adventure has to say about World Endeavors’ study, volunteer, and internship programs, in an article entitled "The Adventures of Your Life".
Serve Your World volunteer guide
World Endeavors Director Tom Peden was interviewed by the Serve Your World guide to volunteering abroad. “Volunteers return from our programs as ambassadors, forever transformed by the experience of volunteering abroad,” says Tom.
Language Travel Magazine, September 2006 issue
“As Tom Peden of US-based World Endeavors highlights, “Volunteering abroad is really a different type of experience than working, interning or studying abroad. International volunteers have different goals… They are looking for an opportunity to do something meaningful abroad – to help other people, while also enriching their own lives.”
The Hindu, January 21, 2008
World Endeavors sent a group of students and professors from Birmingham Southern College to Chennai, India in January 2008 to volunteer at a nursing home and orphanage. While in India, the group spent time with residents of the home, painted walls and furniture, put murals on the walls, and planted a garden. The group was profiled in India’s largest English-language newspaper, The Hindu.
