Orphanage Assistance in Thailand

Orphans are deprived of many opportunities necessary for their development. Through education and compassion, children are empowered to challenge a life of further poverty and exploitation. Volunteers provide basic daily care for the orphans and are also encouraged to actively participate in programs such as health education, games, drawing, and painting. With such a variety of ways to participate, this experience provides volunteers many meaningful ways to approach service.

Eligibility: Volunteering isn't for everyone. Volunteering in Thailand requires flexibility and patience. Individuals should be self-starters, who genuinely respect the Thai people and their culture. Volunteers go to Thailand to share their time and energy with the people, to experience the Thai culture first hand, and to grow as citizens of the planet.

Pre-Departure Information: Before students embark on their trip abroad, they will be provided a pre-departure guide that includes important details about their project. In addition, students may contact World Endeavors any time prior to departure with questions.

Back_topOrientation:

Participants will receive an orientation after arriving in Thailand that will acquaint them with the culture, the program, and the surrounding area.

Back_topHousing:

Volunteers stay with carefully chosen host families who live near to the project site.  Host families are welcoming and generally are very excited to have volunteers as their guests.  All meals with the family (usually 2 per day) will be included.  Lunch at the project site is not included; however, food in Thailand is extremely reasonably priced.

Some few projects may be residential, which means that the volunteers stay on the project site.

Activities:

To help participants learn more about Thai culture and integrate with the community, 30 hours of Thai language instruction is included for all programs of 4 weeks or longer.

For volunteers placed outside Bangkok, where the language school is not easily accessible, alternate language training options will be arranged.  Volunteers placed outside Bangkok may receive less than 30 hours of training, for logistical reasons.

Back_topCost and Dates :

Duration 2 weeks 3 weeks 4 weeks 5 weeks 6 weeks 7 weeks 8 weeks 12 weeks
Costs $1,335.00 $1,448.00 $1,570.00 $1,693.00 $1,815.00 $1,938.00 $2,070.00 $2,560.00

Programs generally start on Monday of each week. Participants can choose when they would like to start and the duration of their volunteer program. A typical program ranges from 4 to 6 weeks. Check with World Endeavors for alternate dates or durations.

We encourage volunteers to apply as far in advance as possible. Generally it is best to submit your application at least 12 weeks prior to your intended start date, but exceptions can be made if the volunteer is willing to work with World Endeavors to expedite the enrollment process. To submit an application, download the application found on the sidebar of this page.

Please note. Some orphanages that we work with require an 8 week or longer commitment. If volunteers would like to work with orphans or underprivileged children for shorter durations, we typically place them in schools or other placements where help is needed.
