internships in chile

Gain international work experience, improve your Spanish, and experience life in South America through World Endeavors’ Internship in Chile program.  Interns live in the charming city of Viña del Mar, Chile, nicknamed “la Ciudad Jardín,” or “the Garden City.”  Viña del Mar and nearby Valparaíso make up the second largest urban area in the country, and the two cities offer great internship placements in a wide range of fields.  Their location just south of the capital city of Santiago and just north of Chile’s famous wine country make them an ideal base for exploring the country.

Viña del Mar is known as a resort area and is home to some of Chile’s best-known beaches.   Valparaíso, located only a few minutes away, is one of Chile’s most unique cities, squeezed between the mountains and the ocean.  Its steep, narrow cobblestone streets and colorful Victorian buildings are fun to explore and offer great views of the city and the coast.

A wide variety of internship placements are available, including:

•    International Business
•    Winemaking
•    Journalism
•    Law
•    Government
•    Social Services
•    Engineering
•    Accounting
•    Marketing
•    Education

•    Human Resources
•    Tourism

If you have specific academic requirements or are interested in a field not listed above, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Eligibility:

Participants must be 18 years old or older to be eligible.  A minimum of intermediate Spanish language proficiency is also required for most placements.  Previous experience or coursework in your internship field is desirable, but not required.

Pre-Departure Information: Before participants embark, they will be provided with a pre-departure guide that includes important details about their experience abroad.  In addition to the guide, participants may contact World Endeavors any time prior to departure with questions.

Back_topOrientation:

Interns will participate in an orientation session after their arrival in Chile.  Orientation includes a welcome, information about Viña del Mar and Valparaíso, transportation, safety, and Chilean culture.

Back_topHousing:

Interns will live in single bedrooms in shared apartments in Viña del Mar.  The apartments are comfortable and conveniently located close to the beach, grocery stores, and public transportation.

Additional housing options such as homestays may be available at an extra cost; if you are interested in these options please contact World Endeavors for more information.

Back_topParticipant Life:

World Endeavors interns in Chile have the opportunity to participate in a wide range of optional excursions during their program, including winery visits, city tours, canopy tours, and even surfing lessons.

In addition to the scheduled activities, Viña del Mar makes a great base for exploring all that Chile has to offer.  Its location an hour and a half from Santiago makes getting to know the capital city’s museums, neighborhoods, and historical sites easy.  Chile’s wine country, home to some of the most up and coming vineyards in the world, is just to the south of Viña del Mar.

Spanish language training
To prepare interns for Spanish-language placements and to enhance their cultural experience in Chile, the internship in Chile program also offers the benefit of Spanish language training throughout the internship.  Interns will take classes from experienced Spanish teachers in small class settings for 1.5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
