Eligibility:

Due to visa restrictions, interns must meet a variety of pre-requisites in order to participate in the program. All US interns must be between the ages of 18 and 30, and either be currently enrolled in a university or be a college graduate. Potential interns from other countries should contact World Endeavors for eligibility information.

It is also required that you have some previous work or academic experience in your internship field.

Pre-Departure Information: Before interns embark, they will be provided a pre-departure handbook that includes important details about their experience abroad. The pre-departure handbook includes important information about their experience abroad. The pre-departure handbook includes general information about the host country, cultural information, interviewing tips, contact information, and more. In addition to the handbook, students may contact World Endeavors any time prior to departure with questions.

Orientation:

A short orientation course is provided as part of the internship. This orientation will introduce the intern to Australian society, as well as provide helpful tips on a number of topics concerning daily life in Australia. Interns will also receive a welcome pack at this time.

Interns have the option* of enrolling in a one-week "Preparation for the Australian Workforce" course. If they choose to enroll, students will learn about workplace expectations, tips for a good interview, computer and customer service skills and other important aspects of the Australian business environment. This course is optional and is not included in the program fee.
*For applicants whose first language is not English, this course may be required.

Housing:

Housing assistance provided.

Short-term accommodations in Sydney can be difficult to find. We provide assistance to interns looking for housing during their stay in Sydney. Many options are available from home stays with local Australian families to shared houses. Costs vary from one option to the next. Our goal is to provide you guidance but also flexibility to ensure that you find housing that meets your needs and your budget.

Participant Life:

There are innumerable fun and interesting things to do in Sydney. Interns can explore the famous sights, such as the Royal Botanic Gardens, and the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, as well as various aquariums, museums, and historic sites. Countless beaches and coves surround the city, and participants will find many opportunities to enjoy such outdoor sports as surfing, diving, sailing, swimming and many others that are quite popular in Sydney.

Activities:

Interns have the option of participating in weekly social gatherings and weekend trips. These activities are a great way to make friends and meet other interns in Sydney. Some of the weekend trips in the past have included such amazing destinations as:

Hiking in the Blue Mountains
Whale and Dolphin Watching at Port Stephens
Tour of Australia's Capitol, Canberra
The Australian Reptile Park

These trips are not included, but are offered to participants at a discounted rate.

Internships are offered year round.

We encourage interns to apply as far in advance as possible. Generally it is best to submit your application at least 12 weeks prior to your intended start date, but exceptions can be made if the intern is willing to work with World Endeavors to expedite the enrollment process. Interns will generally arrive in Australia on Thursday, undergo orientation on Friday, and begin their internships on the following Monday.
