Back_topOrientation:

After arriving in Australia, an orientation program specifically for study abroad and exchange students is held approximately ten days before classes begin. Issues covered include settling into Sydney, culture shock, accommodations, health and safety, health insurance, student clubs and societies, academic support, weekend trips and social events. Orientation also includes activities which help students get to know each other.  Other activities are offered during this week to introduce students to Sydney and each other. These activities vary each semester and information will be provided when the acceptance package is issued.

Back_topHousing:

Many different kinds of housing are available depending on the campus, ranging from residential halls to student apartments, all of which are fully furnished.

Back_topAcademics:

Each student will take a total of 3 to 4 courses for 3 or 4 credits each.  Academic credit and transcripts will be issued by the University of Western Sydney after the successful completion of course requirements for the semester program.  It is the student's responsibility to contact their academic advisor prior to the semester to ensure that courses taken while abroad are transferable to their home institution.

Instruction
Assessment is based on completion of assignments and essays which can vary between 1,500 and 4,000 words. There is usually a final examination or a long essay in lieu of an examination at the end of each unit. There is a great deal of individual study required at Australian universities. Most units do not have weekly class tests.
